Manga Camera / Comic Book app creations within Pages (samples and lesson plan)

After my students played around with the Manga Camera app, they would then edit the photos in Comic Book! You can see some other examples on a previous Manga Camera blog post

They then arranged all of the edited photos into Pages along with a caption for what was going on. Here are the PDF's and if you scroll down lower you will see the instructions I made up. These are just a few of the most colorful pages I saved in PDF's, every student saved their file as a Pages document to be inserted into an iBook in the near future.

Students give writing Feedback via iBook

My 7th graders and I compiled an ibook about their Toontastic cartoons and stories that they wrote. You can check out the complete Toontastic Memoir iBook or the previous lesson plan about using Toontastic as a Digital Storytelling tool

Each student had to read another student's work, and then provide feedback using the iBook's features.

Probably one of the neatest things was to highlight a particular passage, and then insert a note that gave a bit more feedback.

I had the 7th graders take a screen capture of this note, and then show it on Edmodo so that the classmates could see their feedback.

I think iBook has a LOT of potentials, especially when the students can now become content creators and not just content receivers. 

Voice Thread Memoir work

My Media arts students did a Voice Thread project in collaboration with the 8th grade ELA teachers. I thought it would be fun to do this with the iPads and the free Voice Thread app BUT never again!

The app only allows users to export via email. SO I had students login individually onto my laptop and then I would access their VoiceThread and embed it into my blog. I am hoping that after I post these they will be viewable, but for some reason only one is showing. This is frustrating as I know my kids worked very hard on them.
