8th graders Peter Max figure studies and body paint

This is a collection of my students as they worked on a 1960's Pop Art unit.

First, they watched the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and studied the work of Peter Max. Next, teams of two designed twenty-four patterns which would then be painted within life sized contour drawings of a partner. While students completed the paintings of their figures and cut them out to be posted, one half of the class created tie-dye t-shirts while the other students created face paint art. To also set the mood of the time period, the students only listened to music from the 1960's such as the Beatles, Beach Boys and Motown's Greatest hits.
